What we deliver in Sunderland
Sunderland splits into two jobs-wise: the coastal Roker/Seaburn streets where we're replacing storm-damaged panels and adding caps for longevity, and the inland Silksworth/Doxford estates where it's mostly new-build trade supply and full closeboard runs. Houghton, Hetton and Penshaw run the older terraced stock — lots of single-panel replacements and gate-post jobs.

The North Sea air is the big factor on anything east of the A1018. Salt accelerates rot at the ground line, so we recommend gravel boards under every coastal fence and pressure-treated posts as a minimum — never untreated. Sandy soil in pockets near Seaburn and Roker means standard post depths need a touch more concrete than inland.

Yes — coastal fences typically last 15–25 years vs 20–30 inland. We recommend pressure-treated 4×4 posts, gravel boards under every run, and a cap rail on top to protect the board ends. Cheaper untreated timber rots out in under five years on a Sunderland coast plot.
